Things to do: 9/11 memorials, live music, haunted auditions, and more

This weekend is all about remembrance of the victims of Sept. 11, 2001, which includes a special ceremony by local first responders, live music, and a whole lot more.

Columbia Fire & Rescue will once again honor the victims of the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, this Sunday at Fire Station No. 1.

Citizens, city leaders, and local first responders will gather at the station's Firefighter Park, 1000 S. Garden St., starting at 8 a.m.

The ceremony will last approximately 30 minutes and will include words from Columbia Fire Chief Ty Cobb, as well as Mayor Chaz Molder.

The annual Sunset Rhythm & Vines concert will take place this weekend at The Antrim, 2759 Pulaski Highway.

This year's lineup of music will feature Classic Vinyl, Billy Terry and Boomerang.

Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, with dinner being served at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be followed by a live auction from 6:30-7 p.m. and a silent auction from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $40 and can be purchased from any Columbia Breakfast Rotary member. No outside food or beverages will be allowed.

The haunting season is almost upon us, which means Columbia's local haunts are looking for those who are in for a good scare.

Miller's Thrillers, 1431 Carters Creek Pike, will host a round of auditions for actors and staff to helm this year's haunted attraction.

Auditions will take place from 4-7 p.m. Saturday. Paid positions will be available for anyone over 16 years of age.

Miller's Thrillers will have roles for actors, zombies, parking attendants, ticket takers, rule givers, entertainers, special talents, photographers, carpenters, tractor drivers, etc.

No prior acting experience is required. 

This weekend will be your last chance to catch a day of vintage baseball at historic Rippavilla, 5700 Main St.

The two-day Sulphur Dell Cup tournament will feature multiple teams, including Spring Hill's own Quicksteps, with games starting at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Tennessee's Vintage Baseball League features America's pastime played the way they did dating back to the 1800s, which means no helmets and no gloves.

And, as always, admission is free to attend.

The Mulehouse, 812 S. High St., will launch its new Concerts in the Courtyard series this weekend, featuring Smith & Gone and Meredith Joi starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Admission is $5.

RoseWood at The Boondox starting at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Chloe Belle at Twisted Copper Brewing Company, 121 S. Main St. in Mt. Pleasant, starting at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Amber Falls Winery & Cellars, 794 Ridgetop Road, will host another Music on the Ridge series, this time featuring The Grasskickers, who will perform starting at 3 p.m. Saturday. The Spice is Right food truck will also be parked at Amber Falls from 3-7 p.m.
