The Taganrog Boiler-Making Works "Krasny Kotelshchik" (TKZ) implements new technologies in training the apprentices of the electric welder of manual welding. Now representatives of one of the highest-demand professions at the TKZ are gaining necessary skills by means of the welding virtual simulator that gives a complete dive into real manufacturing processes.

The simulator has three complexity levels. In particular, the device is intended for newcomers who have never performed the welding work. The stimulator can help in mastering the manual arc, semi-automatic and manual argon arc welding. That can be achieved by using the analogues of the welding burners and the welding electrode assembly that are used in the TKZ workshops. Apart from that, the set comprises the training blanks including the tube element and the tee joint to practice making of the welds. The set also includes the special welding gloves.

"The virtual simulator is a "new dawn" in training the apprentices of the electric welder of manual welding, which gives a high degree of technical training of the required specialists", Marina Kirdyasheva, the TKZ personnel director, said. It fully simulates the real welding process: in a special mask the apprentices can see the weld, which they are making, and they can hear sounds of the real welding. The simulator is convenient for assessing the welder-newcomers - the trainers are watching for the task performance by means of a special monitor display and, if necessary, they can make changes in the training methods of a specialist quickly.

Particular emphasis is given to training the electric welders of manual welding for a good reason. The welders are involved in all the manufacturing stages and take part in implementing all the enterprise projects. If to consider a great volume of current orders, such specialists are getting more and more required. At present, 57 welders' vacancies are available at the TKZ. In order to cover the staff shortage, the enterprise hires high-skilled specialists as well as unexperienced people, whom the enterprise trains without charge on the basis of its own school for welders. As early as after six months of training they acquire the full-fledged in-demand profession and the work permit.
