Winter clothing drive underway

ZANESVILLE − The Muskingum County Community Youth Foundation's 15th annual winter coat drive is underway.

The Community Youth Foundation is requesting donations of gently used and new coats of all sizes, as well as other winter items such as gloves, mittens, scarves and hats. Blankets will also be accepted.

Individuals can drop off coats through Nov. 10 at The Muskingum County Community Foundation, Bayer Heritage Federal Credit Union on Northpointe Drive, The Community Bank at any Muskingum County branch, North Valley Bank on Maysville Pike, Park National Bank at its Market Street, South Fifth Street and Brandywine branches, Peoples Bank on Maple Avenue, Muskingum County Library System at its Zanesville, South Zanesville, Dresden, Duncan Falls and New Concord branches, Bishop Rosecrans High School, John Glenn High School, Maysville High School, Philo High School, West Muskingum High School and Zanesville High School. Drop-off boxes for the drive are provided by Creative Packaging.

Monetary donations to help purchase additional winter items, if necessary, are also being accepted. Donations may be made to The Muskingum County Community Foundation, c/o the CYF Winter Coat Drive, 534 Putnam Ave., Zanesville, OH 43701.

CYF has collected coats and winter items every fall for 15 years to redistribute to local organizations that provide winter items to the community. Hundreds of coats, sweatshirts, hats, scarves and gloves have been distributed to area youth and adults in need.

CYF is a component fund of the Muskingum County Community Foundation. It exists to empower youth to make a difference in their community by providing financial and human resources to projects that benefit the youth of Muskingum County. The group engages in a variety of activities including community service projects, leadership development, grant making, fundraising and social activities.
